Well, it's December all over again. Boy, that year went quick. We've been doing lot's more work on Apocalyptic since our last update, however we're still a way off of a public release. So, what have we been working on?
What has been done, since the last update:
- A simple day/night system. It's set up so that it accomodates lighting, however there is no transition between night and day yet.
- 5 new items to build with (Planks, Scrap Metal, Screws, Batteries and Light Bulb)
- 2 new equipment (Sledge hammer: breaks items in the wild, ex crates etc, Torch/flashlight: can be used to see in the night)
- The NPC AI has been tweaked a little, they act more independant now.
- Added crates in the wild. Every now again, support helicopters will fly over head and drop crates for survivors.
- Lotsa small things, such as credits, command points, flag placement and more.
What we actualy want to get done before the public release: (extremely prone to changing)
- Day and night transitions. (10% done, if you count the horribly pathetic prototypes)
- NPC Hiring, and command point control (0%)
- Enemy AI, and spawning control (0%)
- Menus (50%)
- Music (20%)
- Health control (50%)
- More items and equipment (20%)
- Weapons, rifle prototype and melee prototypes (30%)
So that's about it. The polish we are leaving till last, the way we see it we want the game working before we start adding high quality graphics and sound. It's amazing, and I hate to repeat it, but for me, I just love how this is going. For someone that has absolutely no expereince in game dev before, this game is turning out suprisingly well.
Just... don't expect the next Fallout when it comes out first, OK? :D
Okay, here's my critique -- good update but you're still being to hard on yourself (Who said they were expecting Fallout?) Also, just to be clear, why are you referring to yourself as "we"?
Sorry I keep talking like that, I'm not sure what to expect when I do release it. When I first started on Apocalyptic, I was working on it by myself. Over the past few months a few more people have joined in. We have a guy helping out with the graphics, as well as the development, and two others helping out with the music side of things. They also contributed ideas towards the game.
